From Customer Success to Senior Product Manager
How a path through CS, QA, and Engineering shaped the way I build products, and what I would tell anyone making the same jump.
I did not take a traditional path into Product Management. I started in Customer Success, then moved into QA, software engineering, and eventually Product.
Each stop taught me something I still use every day: how customers actually talk about problems, where products break, how software gets shipped, and how to turn all of that into a roadmap people can execute.
That path is why I stay close to the work. I still dig into bugs, test prototypes, and design in Figma when it helps the team move faster. Product for me is not a seat above the work. It is a seat inside it.
If you are making a similar jump, my advice is simple: get closer to the customer, learn enough engineering to collaborate well, and practice turning messy signals into clear decisions.
